The Secret of the Sacred Scarab by Fiona Ingram

Today I have a cool type of review for you! Renee C. (the Mother) of the Mother Daughter Book Review Blog and I are reviewing the same book so you can read a Mother/Daught…ERR I mean Mother/Erik review of the same book! Here is a bit about what Renee C. Thought of it –

Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down.  It is a non-stop rollicking adventure filled with mystery, peril, and intrigue all set within the backdrop of culturally and historically rich Egypt.”

The Secret of the Sacred Scarab

by Fiona Ingram

272 pages – ages 8+

Published by iUniverse on December 30, 2008

Adam and Justin were going to Egypt on vacation to visit their Aunt Isabel and Gran for about a week. When they arrive in Egypt, Adam is given three scarabs from a street peddler and that’s when the adventure begins! Adam realizes he was also given a black scarab and there is an evil doctor named Khalid who is desperate to get it at ANY cost! Adam and Justin try to find out what is so special about the scarab and what it has to do with the legend of the Scarab King before it is too late!
This story ROCKED! It was exciting, action-filled, adventurous and history filled book! It pretty much had everything me (as a boy) would want in a book – danger, mystery, legends, exciting setting, myths and much more. The story was written really well and it kept me reading page after page. I really liked the simple pencil illustrations in the book. I liked the characters of Justin and Adam.  They were both nice, smart and brave. The book has no bad language or graphic violence in it.

Two reviews in one day. If this books “rocks” than it must be a winner because you rarely use that term. Sounds like it’s packed with mystery, intrigue and action. Great review.

Yeah, I didn’t schedule my posts really well😦 I am not supposed to be posting on Thursdays either (my parents rules, but they made an exception:) ). The book does ROCK! I think the last book I said that about was “The End of Infinity” by Matt Myklusch😉 I am glad you liked my review Ms. Tilton!

Thank you, Erik, for that great review. I will be sending you the next adventure asap, called The Search for the Stone of Excalibur. So, if you like anything to do with King Arthur, you’ll love it as well!

Well I guess you knew I would love this book. Adventure, mystery, history and culture in a fascinating country – just my kind of thing. I would love Amanda to go to Egypt but she can’t go anywhere unless I go first. It is on my list.
