Meet Clyde

21 Apr

This has nothing at all to do with books but I am so happy, I just wanted to have everyone –

Clyde is a 3-4 year old (they aren’t sure) Basset Hound we adopted from Paws Crossroads Animal Rescue in Berwick PA. (like them on Facebook HERE). We have been without a dog since our yellow lab, Bart, passed away a couple of years ago.Ā  My mom saw Clyde pop up on a Pet Finder ad on Facebook and we all decided he was the one for us.Ā  Clyde was given to the rescue in January because his owner couldn’t care for him. The nice people at the rescue took very good care of him and my family is happy to have him as part of ours now. šŸ™‚ AND – Clyde likes to read. šŸ˜‰

Congrats, Erik! I wonder if Clyde might like Bark George! šŸ™‚

      Strangely, he hasn’t barked yet… Hmm… Maybe I should read it to him… šŸ˜‰

What a cute little bunny! How fitting that he should arrive just after Easter šŸ™‚ Clyde looks like he’s going to be a wonderful addition to your family, Erik – he has such a sweet face! I’m sure you guys will have many happy years of reading together. Congratulations on your new addition šŸ™‚

I’ve begun the process of looking into pets for my daughter. We’re going for a dog (she’s allergic to cats). You look very happy to have Clyde and I’m sure Clyde’s doubly happy to be with you.

Look at those wonderful ears-perfect for listening to you read stories aloud. Perhaps you should add paws to your reviews!

So happy for you and I’m sure he’s come to a good home!

Awwww. Welcome to your forever family, Clyde. I don’t know how to read, but when I go to work at the library, lots of kids read stories to me. Books are fun! Families are fun, too!

    Love and licks,

Right you are Cupcake! I think Clyde would like that – we brought him to our traveling library today. šŸ™‚

Cute! Clyde looks like a great name for him. Kudos for adopting him. All our best dogs have come from a rescue.

Aww! He is so cute. šŸ™‚

Clyde is adorable! Looks like Clyde now has 4 floppy ears–the better to hear with! Thank you for rescuing him and giving him a loving home. He’s lucky to have you. We rescued our Maltese mix dog about 9 months ago. He’s the best thing that’s happened to me and our family.

    • thiskidreviewsbooks April 22, 2014 at 4:31 pm #

And he has one big mouth – the better to slobber with! šŸ˜‰ Clyde is an awesome dog. šŸ™‚

I love Clyde! He looks like he fits in with your family very well. He is lucky to have found you.

He is a great dog. I am glad we have him. šŸ™‚

      • Darlene April 23, 2014 at 9:29 pm #

I didn’t know your last dog’s name was Bart. I gave the dog in my next book the name Bart. It’s a good name for a dog. Clyde is also a very good name for a dog!

      • thiskidreviewsbooks April 25, 2014 at 6:31 pm #

That’s cool! I can’t wait to read about Bart! šŸ™‚

congrats – he looks like a sweet dog. That’s great that he’s “all ears” for books ;D

What better for you than a dog who loves to read! This is such fantastic news. I wanted to adopt a rescue dog but because of my specific needs regarding my dad I had to be very selective (as you know) so got a tiny dog no one wanted yet because she was so small. She fits well with our family situation, as Clyde does with yours. I’m so happy for you all. šŸ™‚ You look great together.

    • thiskidreviewsbooks April 22, 2014 at 4:36 pm #

Thank you CGLynn! šŸ˜€ I think Meyya is perfect for your dad. She is really cute! šŸ˜€

Oh Clyde, he tried. For a family like this, it’s just pure bliss! šŸ™‚ He looks happy. His name fits. I think Clyde and my Frodo would get a long great! (He knows he’s lucky to have you and the family.)

    • thiskidreviewsbooks April 22, 2014 at 4:39 pm #

What do you mean by ‘Oh Clyde, he tried.’?! Is that good, or bad? Anyway, here’s a donut for complimenting Clyde – O And one extra – O And another O And a fancy one – (~) šŸ˜€ What type is Frodo? (just curious – and I love his name!)

  14. Sandy Brehl April 21, 2014 at 9:40 pm #

Clyde looks like one very lucky (and happy) dog. Such a great match- seems like Clyde fits perfectly into your family’s “missing” space in your hearts. And supporting PAWS is the icing on the cake (or the gravy on the dogfood). Congratulations!

Very cute! And that’s perfect he likes to read šŸ™‚

Such a sweet story. Clyde looks like a wonderful addition to your family. Enjoy many bedtime stories with your new canine friend. Extra treats for you today, Clyde! Tell Erik I said so! šŸ˜‰ ~Suzy Leopold

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! Clyde looks like he’ll be a perfect reading/writing foot-warmer, just like Bailey. Every author needs a good buddy to keep them company. šŸ™‚

  19. Rena Marthaler April 21, 2014 at 11:24 pm #

Clyde seems like such a great dog. You can teach him to walk all over your computer keyboard and write! šŸ™‚

  20. KidLitReviews April 22, 2014 at 12:11 am #

Erik, your family has brought tears to my eyes. Dog rescues are so much a part of my life, I am moving soon just to help out at a transplanted rescue from here (where I am now) to a larger city. Oh, I read Clyde has not barked much. Basset hounds don’t bark that much, but when he does, you will all know it. His bark will sound more like howl. A special thank you for getting your Easter Basset Clyde from a dog rescue! ā¤

    • thiskidreviewsbooks April 22, 2014 at 4:56 pm #

No problem! My mom saw him on Facebook. She fell in love with him, and then I did, and then Josie, and then Dad (he wasn’t sure we were ready for a dog). šŸ™‚ He has captured our hearts. šŸ™‚

  21. Claudine @ CarryUsOff Books April 22, 2014 at 4:53 am #

It is so nice to meet Clyde, and to know he loves reading. He is very fortunate to be a part of your family, Erik! (I imagine your sister must be thrilled, too.)

  22. Catherine Johnson April 22, 2014 at 6:06 am #

Awh Clyde is adorable! You must be over the moon Erik. I hope you’ll sneak him into some posts, that would be so neat.

  23. Joanna April 22, 2014 at 7:08 am #

TOTALLY ADORABLE. I am so happy that Clyde has found a forever home with such a lovely family. Love the photo of you and Clyde reading!

  24. writersideup April 22, 2014 at 10:47 am #

Welcome, Clyde! šŸ™‚ I’m thinking he and Stanley could end up good friends šŸ˜€ Wishing you all lots of fun and love together!

  25. heylookawriterfellow April 22, 2014 at 12:03 pm #

A Basset who reads? A perfect pet.

Wait. Does Clyde chase cats? If he does, that would make him perfect-er. šŸ˜‰

[…] really knows how to write a great story! Charlie eats, sleeps, and thinks he helps out. Just like Clyde, our basset. I really like this series, and think that kids will love it […]
