Illustrated by Jeremy Tankard
32 pages – ages 3+
Published by Chronicle Books on April 1, 2014

Summary- (Taken from the inside jacket) “Watch the unstoppable destructive force of a raging temper tantrum! Tremble at the enormous mess and disrespectful roaring! Despair as no amount of scolding can stem the heedless fury! Someone is heading for a time-out, Mister! “

A little monster takes his terrible temper-tantrum out on the city. No amount of scolding will get him to stop. He is throwing a gigantic fit until he gets what he wants!

What I thought– I thought this was a hilarious book. The story is very cute, and the narrator’s voice (an adult trying to get Destructosaurus to stop) is terrific. Mr. Tankard’s illustrations are awesome! They are digitally made and I think they really give a lot to the story. I personally am a huge Godzilla fan and really appreciated Destructosaurus’ rampage. 🙂

At first, my little sister wasn’t sure who was talking to Destructosaurus when she was reading the book herself. But when my mom read it out loud to her, she really cracked up laughing. I love how the book shows the ultimate temper tantrum. It is cool how Mr Reynolds can write a story about a monster destroying a city and make the monster cute and cuddly. 🙂  I bet all kids have a Destructosaurus tantrum at one point. I think parents will really like this book too. The ending of the book is great!

This is a terrific picture book! I loved this one. I would have loved to hear your mom read this to Josie. I bet your Mom made a great upset, trying to stay calm, guilt-ridden mom. <# it!

You made it sound as if this is a very interesting book. I know a little girl whom I hear can throw a good temper tantrum.

I’ve been seeing this guy all over the place! In reviews! On the B&N shelves! And I must say—he is probably the cutest little “terrorist” I’ve ever seen 🙂

Anger is something that (most) adults have learned to control, but we can identify with the sentiments expressed completely. Sounds like a very sweet book!

This looks like fun! But what, pray tell, is the green stuff dripping off of Destructosaurs’ tail?

I think that this book may be about a certain pup who happens to reside at the 7 Acre Wood. Beware!! I guess i must get this one for her!

Ha. I haven’t watched Godzilla yet. Destructosaurus – love that concept. I can tell a lot of very young kids, especially toddlers would love the spirit of destruction! 🙂
