40 pages – ages 4+

Synopsis- Ethan’s grandma is a ninja. She can use a zip line like nobody’s business, she can do awesome karate moves, she can even do a backflip… in slow motion! How cool is that?! Ethan and his friends love it. That is, until Ethan’s grandma kicks the team’s soccer ball so hard it deflates and everyone gets upset. Ethan is no longer sure having a ninja grandma that great.

What I Thought- OKAY! What kid wouldn’t love this book?! It has a ninja, who actually happens to be an elderly grandmother – PURE AWESOMENESS! The illustrations are funny, wacky, and they flip out at you – in slow motion! This book will have little kids laughing out loud, and big kids rolling on the floor, laughing their lungs out! Mr. Tarpley has written a great book that has a funny circling ending. It kept me chuckling.

I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms!fivebooks

This book looks so adorable! And I think it also sends a wonderful message to kids that grandparents, ninja or not, are AWESOME!

Sounds like fun, E. That being said, I’m glad Mom isn’t a ninja. It sounds exhausting.

Thanks for the awesome review, Erik. I have no idea how you find the time to write this blog in addition to homework and other activities, but kudos to you–impressive work!

I suspect that more nana’s than expected are secret Ninja’s, and have invisible magic powers.

Mike, I’m pretty sure there’s no “Ninja Brussel Sprout” picture book just yet, so the field’s yours for the taking! 😉

I would only write this book if a ninja was sent out to destroy Brussels sprouts.

This would work for kids IF, in the end, it turns out that the Ninja realizes he’s mistaken in wanting to destroy the Brussel sprouts because they are, in fact, friendly and they have [nutritional] value 😀 😀 😀 *runs from Ninja Mike*

I must get my paws on this one! The cover of Grandma carrying her purse and wearing her pearls gets me every time. Super review, Erik.

Not many grandmas sit around in rocking chairs anymore just getting old. 🙂

Nope! If anything, they do SOMETHING in their rocking chairs! My grandma bakes, and the other one draws! 🙂

She was! She just didn’t see she could be a bit “over the top” 😉

Ninjas aren’t really “over the top”. They’re more of a “through the shadows” type. 😉
