Series: Seven Wonders (Book 4)
Hardcover: 320 pages – ages 8+
Published by HarperCollins on March 3, 2015

Synopsis- Jack McKinley was an ordinary kid. Emphasis on was. Not long ago, it was revealed to him that he has a special gene that gives people “superpowers” based on their natural attributes. Now he and some other kids his age with the gene are supposed to save the world, by traveling throughout the planet going to the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, of which only one is still standing. They need to complete their mission before a major world-catastrophe happens. And why is Marco, one of their old friends, on the bad guys’ side?

What I Thought- This is the next book in a great series. Mr. Lerangis quickly brings readers up to speed, and then he dives right into the story. The characters are well-thought out. Jack is a great kid who is being hunted by evil monks. And, unlike his friends, he doesn’t really have any “superpowers,” which makes it all the more challenging. He and his two friends need to collect 7 magical orbs for two reasons: One, to save their own lives (they have a genetic mutation that gives them superpowers, but makes them have an early death), and two, to save the world. I like the suspense of their lives being at stake. I love how Mr. Lerangis pulls in history to the story and wraps an awesome adventure around it! Mr. Lerangis perfectly mixes humor, terror, action, and tragedy in this book. I am a fan of this series, and I can’t wait for the next book!

I give this 5 out of 5 bookworms!fivebooks

I find it hilarious that Lerangis also wrote many books in the Babysitter’s Club series. He’s certainly a versatile author!
