Synopsis- Sporty was coming home for the holidays. It was nice seeing everyone, until mysterious crimes start happening. Crimes committed by “innocent” people who don’t remember doing it. It was strange, but could be passed off as a weird occurrence. At least, until Sporty’s younger sister almost commits one, with Sporty stopping her just in time. That’s when Sporty and her best friend Harley get involved. Did I forget to mention that Sporty and Harley are superheroes? And that they’re horses? This’ll be a neighing good time!*
What I Thought- This is the seventh book in the Super Sporty series. The book is written for a young reader and it will definitely appeal to kids into early chapter books. I’ve never read the other books in the series and I found this book a bit confusing in the beginning as it didn’t explain much of what happened in the other books. I didn’t know who any of the characters are or why some have superpowers, etc, but Ms. Firestone gave just enough so you didn’t feel totally lost and once you got into the story, it no longer seemed to matter. Ms. Firestone knows how to connect with young readers through her fun characters. The story is a good one and makes you curious about what will happen to the characters. The mystery is fun and keeps you hooked. There are cool illustrations (on my Kindle, they were in color) throughout the book of the characters as they saved the day.
I give this book four out of five bookworms.
*I apologize. That was bad. Incredibly bad.
