Synopsis: Logan is so excited for her ballet recital tonight! She can’t wait to show her whole family! It’s just that Logan’s sister, Leah, has autism and sensory processing disorder. She doesn’t really like surprising noises. She’s never been to a theater and probably wouldn’t like it the sudden surprises. While Logan understands and excepts it, she is a little sad that her whole family won’t be there.
Love for Logan - Our Review
What I Thought
This was a sweet book. I really like the fact that Leah is the older sibling, as in most of the stories I have read the autistic child is the youngest. It provides a new perspective. Ms. DeMonia wrote another book about Leah before this one (see my review of “Leah’s Voice” HERE), and this one explains another common type of disorder – sensory processing disorder – something which my family is very familiar with but many people aren’t. Ms. DeMonia knows how to write a good story about these topics while explaining them in a child-friendly way. Ms. Turchan’s watercolor illustrations are marvelous, and add a lot to the story!
I give this book five out of five bookworms!
