11 OctHappy Friday everyone! I have got an awesome picture book to tell you about today! But first…
SOoo, what did you do last night?
Me?
Oh, I did the usual, you know, homework, reading, ate dinner, read more (I now have 34 Reading for Renn points from taking another test today!), got a shower, and went to hang out for a while with Rick Riordan, you know all the stuff I normally do.
What?
You didn’t get that last part?
Let me type it a bit louder –
I GOT TO GO SEE RICK RIORDAN FOR HIS HOUSE OF HADES BOOK TOUR!!! WOO!!!
okay i’s not the best picture – I was too excited to think about photography!OK – it’s not the best picture – I was too excited to think about photography!
Hey what’s even cooler than that? Well, not only did I get to go hear one of my all-time favorite authors speak (and get a signed book), Josie and I got to meet and have dinner with the Stanley and Katrina gang! Tomato and Pea got to meet Stanley and Katrina too!
s&k1left to right – Pea, Awesome Friend, Stanley, Josie, Katrina, Tomato, and Neighbor Girl
s&k2Neighbor Girl signed a copy of The Perpetual Papers of the Pack of Pets for me!
All of us with our books! All of us with our books!
What did I learn after hearing Mr. Riordan speak? Well, he and his wife had the same hair-do in college, he was a bad student, but a good middle grade teacher who looked pretty cool dressed up like a samurai and he likes enchiladas.
We all had a ton of fun! I want to thank my mom for taking us and Cool Mom of the S&K gang for getting the tickets!

Opening and Synopsis –
Taken from the press release –
“Not Even The SKY Is The LIMIT, is a book showcasing the abilities of children and adults with Down Syndrome.
The book is the result of the author’s own beautiful journey to find out what life with her daughter would be like.
Turn the pages and you’ll see that people with Down Syndrome are able to enjoy doing everything everyone else does.
In fact, as you see here, not even the sky is the limit!”
Not Even The Sky Is The LIMIT – Our Review
Why I liked this book – I like that it shows people with Downs Syndrome doing everyday things and something I can’t even do.
The book shows pictures of people of all ages. The pages are full color photographs with simple text on them, with simple messages.
I think it is a great book to show kids people are really all the same even if they look or act differently from ourselves. This is an important message that all people should hear.
The book’s trailer has some nice pictures from the inside –
